About The Federation of RE Centres

The Federation of RE Centres is a forum and support network for those involved in the provision of resources for multi-faith Religious Education in UK schools, colleges, churches and community groups. In addition to this website the information and support activities of the group also include the publication of a twice yearly newsletter and the organisation of conferences and other events.

The FREC is a member of the Religious Education Council of England and Wales.

Member Centres

There are two types of membership:

Full membership

Full membership of the Federation of RE Centres (£15 per year) is open to any Centre which fulfils the following remit: The provision of resources related to RE, Collective Worship, Spirituality & Personal Development, Contemporary Moral Issues, Citizenship etc. The range of resources provided by individual Centres varies but will frequently include: multi-faith religious artefacts, books, DVDs, posters, CD ROMs, cards and other related teacher support materials. Most Centre resources are available either for loan or purchase. Many Centres also offer local training, advice and consultancy services within this highly specialist area of education.

In the broadest sense, the Federation of RE Centres has something to offer teachers of RE, PGCE students, those studying Religious Studies or Theology, those engaged in Christian ministry with children and/or youth workers, members of local faith communities and individual members of the public interested in the religions of the world. Centres may be part of the local faith community, a Local Authority, Diocesan office or inter-faith community.

Associate membership

Associate membership of the Federation (£15 per year) is open to any Centre which broadly supports the aims or services listed above but which may have a narrower focus. For example, a single Faith Centre or a Centre which focuses on one aspect of Religion.

The Federation of RE Centres aims to enable its members (both Full and Associate) to resource and support Religious Education and literacy. The Federation is composed of Centres with a diverse range of foundations from many different geographical areas in England. The Federation aims to support people of all faiths and none.

Further details on resources and services available from individual Centres are listed on the Member Centres pages. Other RE Centres are very welcome to join the Group (contact details are available on the Feedback page).
